Many good things come in green. Money. Grass. Especially Yoda. And when it comes to holiday conversations, going the way of Yoda is what I recommend. I urge many of of my executive clients to find their inner Yoda. What does this mean? If you’re not a Star Wars fan, let me give you a Yoda primer:
He was old and wise–actually nine centuries old when he became the last Grand Master of the Jedi Order. His body disappeared as he became “one with the Force,” according to Wookieepedia. Yoda rarely gets mad. He communicates concisely and always seems to have the right words for any situation. He challenges you to bring out your best self.
If you can channel Yoda at your holiday gatherings and future moments at work and play, you will awaken your strength and wise endings. Start by understanding your own trigger points in any situation. Yoda would tell you to calm those fears, anxieties, or pet peeves. Then based on who is talking with you, try to understand their trigger points before you reply. If someone is always negative toward you, avoiding them might be the answer; or having a buddy with you to soften the situation. If you are genuinely looking forward to seeing someone at your next gathering, seek them out and show appreciation. Your inner Yoda can also be used to channel and enhance good vibes. Now, may the Force be with you as you go out and communicate–no matter whether you encounter a Wookie or a Sith.
